St. James Mathematicians
Welcome to St. James Middle School Mathematics. In your years in this class you will not only learn mathematic concepts, you will learn how to apply these concepts to your everyday life. While you are in this classroom you are a mathematician, a problem solver, a hard worker, and a risk taker. We also take responsibility for our actions and our learning. We are ready to learn, responsible, and NEVER GIVE UP!

6th Grade MathIn Grade 6, the concepts of integers and rational numbers will be further developed as well as ratios, percents, and coordinate geometry. There will be an increase emphasis on algebraic thinking. Other topics that are studied include: data and statistics, probability, geometry, measurement, and proportions. Special attention is given to critical thinking, problem solving, mental math, and journalizing.

7th Grade MathIn Grade 7, the concepts of integers, rational numbers, equations, ratios, percents, data analysis, statistics, and coordinate geometry will be further developed. There will be an increase emphasis on algebraic thinking, problem solving and connecting previous knowledge to new concepts. Other topics that are studied include: inequalities, functions, polynomials, two-dimensional geometry, and three-dimensional geometry.

8th Grade MathIn Grade 8, the concepts of integers, rational numbers, equations, inequalities, ratios, percents, data analysis, statistics, two-dimensional geometry, and three-dimensional geometry will be further developed. There will be an increase emphasis on algebraic thinking, problem solving, using logic skills, and connecting previous knowledge to new concepts. Other topics that are studied include: real numbers, polynomials, factoring, linear functions, linear inequalities, and nonlinear functions
